Garage Door FAQs

Answers to common questions about garage door installation, automation, materials, colours, warranties and service areas.

Can I install a garage door to my carport?

Yes. We would need to see the carport to advise you exactly how it would work, but most carports can have a garage door fitted along with a low headroom kit from the garage door manufacturer.

What is the minimum height for a garage door?

Generally, the minimum height for a garage door is 1920mm. As long as you have a floor-to-ceiling height of approximately 2160mm, you should be okay.

Can I make my garage door automatic?

Most garage doors can be converted from a manual door into an automatic door. Motors can generally be retrofitted with ease, and we also fit motors to unusual tilt and cantilever doors.

On average, around 90% of garage doors can be converted if the existing door is in generally good condition.

Can I get a quote for a garage door?

Yes. Please call 131 546 to book your Measure & Quote.

What warranty do I get?

We offer warranty on everything we supply. The warranty period varies depending on the product you are purchasing.

Jim’s Garage Doors manufactures its doors in Australia. The doors we use are made in Victoria.

What colours are garage doors available in?

Jim’s Garage Doors are available in the full range of Colorbond® colours. Please see our garage door information page to download the colour chart.

What types of garage doors do you sell?

We supply Australian-made garage doors, with the main door types falling into two categories: Roller Doors and Sectional Doors.

The Jim’s Garage Door is specifically made for Australian conditions from durable Colorbond® steel. The Polyglide™ system allows smooth operation with minimal noise and friction, while the reinforced bottom rail provides additional protection for the home.

Every Jim’s garage door is made to suit individual requirements. This allows the door to be configured for the needs of the property without additional custom-sizing costs.

The Sectional Garage Door uses a raised-panel sectional overhead design comprising a number of hinged rigid sections that slide overhead. Panel doors are available in four design options, making them suitable for both modern and traditional buildings.

Please see our garage door information page for more information and downloadable brochures.
